Summit Physio was founded in 2006 by Andy Hosgood and Adam Richardson with a simple aim: to provide high-quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation that looks beyond the immediate pain and focuses on the person behind it.
Nearly two decades later, that belief still shapes everything we do.
We understand how frustrating and emotional pain and injury can be. That’s why our goal isn’t simply to make something feel better for a few days.
We want to help you understand what’s happening, rebuild confidence in your body and create a plan that helps you move forward.
Pain tells us something isn’t right.
But where you feel pain doesn’t always tell us the whole story.
At Summit, we take the time to understand your symptoms, how you move, what your body is being asked to do and what you want to get back to.
That may mean looking at:
It allows us to build a much clearer picture of what may be contributing to the problem.
This is the approach that sits at the heart of Summit.
We believe education is a fundamental part of good physiotherapy.
Your clinician will listen, assess and explain what they find so you understand why you may be experiencing pain or injury and what can be done about it.
That philosophy has been part of Summit from the beginning.
Once we understand what needs to change, we can start working on it.
Depending on your needs, that might involve treatment, rehabilitation, movement work, strength or changes to how you manage activity.
Your plan is built individually around you.
Feeling better is important.
But if you want to return to work, running, sport, the gym or everyday life, your body also needs to be ready for those demands.
We’ll help you progress towards the level that matters to you.
One of the most important questions we can ask is:
What do you want to get back to?
For one person, success might mean becoming pain-free enough to comfortably get through the working day.
For somebody else, it might mean recovering after surgery.
Another person may want to get back to running, football, golf or competitive sport.
Summit’s existing approach has always centred treatment around helping patients achieve their individual goals.
That remains far more important to us than simply treating a body part.
Summit was created around the idea of bringing together like-minded clinicians who care about delivering a high standard of treatment and rehabilitation.
That philosophy continues today.
Our team includes professionals with experience across physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, sports therapy and performance. The current team also includes clinicians with backgrounds ranging from elite sport and Team GB Wrestling to running, rugby and performing arts.
We encourage our team to learn from one another, share knowledge and continue developing their expertise.
Because the better our team becomes, the better the support we can give you.
Pain and injury can already be stressful enough. We want your experience with Summit to feel professional, positive and straightforward from the moment you contact us.
Your first appointment starts with a conversation. We want to understand what has happened and what you're hoping to achieve.
Your clinician will assess the areas relevant to your symptoms and goals.
We’ll explain what we’ve found without hiding behind unnecessary jargon.
You’ll know what we recommend, why we recommend it and what the next steps look like.
With Summit clinics across Lancashire, getting the right support doesn’t have to mean travelling miles out of your way.

We want to know why the problem is affecting you before deciding what to do about it.
You should understand your treatment and be involved in the decisions around it.
Your rehabilitation should reflect your body, lifestyle and goals.
Getting rid of today's symptoms is only part of the picture.
Our clinicians learn from each other and continue developing so our approach moves forward too.
From two physiotherapists with an idea in 2006 to a multidisciplinary team working across Chorley, Wrightington and Manchester today, Summit has grown considerably.
But the purpose hasn’t really changed.
Understand the person.
Understand the problem.
Build the right plan.
Help them move forward.
Whether you’re dealing with pain, recovering from surgery or trying to get back to the activity you love, start by helping us understand where you want to get to.
