Bay windows are one of the most common requests for plantation shutters across Preston, and it’s where the bespoke nature of the product really shows its value. A bay window isn’t a single flat surface — it has angles, separate sections and often a mix of opening and fixed panes. Getting shutters to sit properly in a bay requires each section to be measured and manufactured individually.
Fulwood has a particularly high concentration of Victorian and Edwardian bay windows, and John has installed shutters in a great many of them over the past eight years. The configuration varies — some bays have three sections, some five, some have a curved front — but the principle is the same: each section is measured precisely, manufactured separately and installed so the shutters sit cleanly within the recess and operate independently of one another.
Bay window shutters can be configured in any of the standard shutter styles — full height, tier-on-tier or cafe style — depending on how you use the room and what you want the bay to do. John will advise on the most suitable configuration for your specific bay at the consultation.

Yes — shutters can be made for angled, curved and straight bay windows. The key is that each section is measured and manufactured individually to suit the geometry of the bay. John has installed bay window shutters across the full range of Preston and Fulwood bay types.
John measures every section of the bay individually at the consultation. This is more involved than measuring a standard window — the angles, depths and frame conditions all need to be recorded accurately. Getting this right at the start is what ensures the shutters sit cleanly once they’re installed.
Yes — full height, tier-on-tier and cafe style are all available for bay windows. The right choice depends on the room, the position of the bay and how much privacy and light control you want at different times. John will advise at the consultation.
