Blackout blinds block nearly all outside light — making them the right choice for bedrooms, nurseries and anyone who needs a genuinely dark room. Whether it’s a child who won’t settle in a bright room in summer, a shift worker sleeping through the day or a bedroom that faces east and catches the early morning sun, a properly installed blackout blind makes a real, practical difference.
The installation matters as much as the fabric. A blackout blind that’s slightly too narrow or not fitted close enough to the recess will let light in around the edges, which largely defeats the purpose. John installs every blackout blind himself, taking care over the fit to keep light gaps as small as possible.
Blackout blinds are available as rollers, in pleated fabric and as Perfect Fit options on compatible frames. For nurseries and children’s bedrooms, motorised blackout blinds are also worth considering — no cords near children, and the blind can be adjusted without disturbing a sleeping child.

What’s the difference between blackout and dim-out blinds?
Blackout blinds block nearly all outside light — they’re designed to make a room as dark as possible. Dim-out blinds reduce the amount of incoming light significantly, but they don’t block it out completely. For bedrooms, nurseries and anywhere you need genuine darkness, blackout is the right choice. John will show you both at the consultation.
Will a blackout blind eliminate all light entirely?
Blackout fabric itself blocks nearly all light. In practice, a small amount of light may still enter around the very edges of the blind — this is minimised by precise installation into the recess, which is something John takes particular care over.
Are blackout blinds available as Perfect Fit?
Yes — blackout fabric is available in Perfect Fit pleated format for compatible window frames. John will check frame compatibility at the consultation.
What is the lead time for blackout blinds?
Made-to-measure blackout blinds are typically 3 weeks or more from consultation. Nicky will confirm the current lead time when you get in touch.
